So I finally got Gregg to agree to paint! But we are still up in arms over color. We got some samples:Color is really hard for me. So hard infact that when we first moved into our house Gregg painted our bedroom which is not really small a green color. I/We didn't like it so we repainted the whole thing again (before we moved in). This in the middle of tiling and doing the wood floors!?! So needless to say we were not very happy that we had bought 10 gallons of a paint we now no longer liked and needed to buy more. But anyway that is a whole other story. Since then we have repainted and now we are attempting to paint the dinning room and the front room (working our way around the entire house - that so badly needs new paint!). Anyway, your opinion is greatly appreciated. I know you can't see very well the colors (from my wonderful camera) but I will try to explain the colors and color schemes I have in mind:
TOP: Soft Earth - it is a bit green (Gregg thinks it is grey), I found it in a Ralph Lauren book I really liked. I would do the dining room in that and the front room in a lighter shade on the same pallet (because our ceilings are like 18 ft tall and I don't want it too dark)
Middle: Distant Tan - it is not that much different from what we have. I found this one in the pottery barn cataloge.
Bottom: River Rock- this one is a greyish blue. I really liked this one in the pottery barn cataloge too. I would plan to decorate with white and orange, black and rusty red.
I just want your opinions.....

I really like Distant Tan, but I think the bottom one would be so pretty...especially with the other colors you are decorating with. I say be bold, go with that one. :)
All are lovely choices. Maybe I'm not the one to ask because I'm a bit intimidated by color. My favorite is soft earth. I painted our living room/dining room that color and everyone always compliments it. I also decided to try out the trendy yellow, black and white color scheme in my den and I'm still not sold on it.
My philosophy is stick to color that is a little more neutral or earthy. That way you can change your colorful accesories like blue pillows or orange vases throughout the season. Colorful accesories will make more of a statement in a neutral color room and you can always change those when you get tired of them instead of the paint. Can't wait to see what you choose!
i started writing a comment but it was too long. i really like the top color best - i like darks - very BOLD!
Love, Love LOVE the first one!!! It doesn't hurt to be bold on color. I tried bold in my kitchen and love it tried wild in my bathroom and loved it for about 6 mo. so
so what color are you busy painting tonight? i just posted photos with my orange walls on my blog - check it out! (it's okay if you don't like it - orange walls are not for everyone).
I want to know too. What did you decide? I like the colors you say you would decorate with the bottom color.....but I also like everyone else's suggestions too.
Hope you are doing great. Haven't talked with you in a long time.
I am so for the blue .... I love color! I think I have painted almost every room in my house!
